Reading of minutes
Riley reported that the last members' meeting was the 2022 Annual Meeting, conducted from November 2022 to March 2023. Its minutes were prepared by summarizing the transcript with AI and then editing the result. The full transcript is also available.
Officers' reports
President's report
President Karen Stein reported that little had happened in LLG's affairs during the period, and thanked Riley for organizing the meeting.
Vice President's report
Vice President Robert Lechavalier reported that health problems had limited activity.
Secretary Treasurer's report
Secretary/Treasurer Riley Lynch reported LLG's 2025 finances:
- Bank balance: $27,147.85
- Revenue: $655.49
- Expenses: $25.00, the annual corporate filing fee
All revenue came from book sales: 40 hardbound copies of The Complete Lojban Language, 5 ebooks, and 13 paperback copies of .i la lojban mo. Roughly 75–80% of sales were in the United States, with the rest in Germany, Singapore and Spain. Sales were up from the previous year, though below 2021, when over a hundred books were sold.
Riley reported having used AI to draft minutes from the 2021 and 2022 meeting transcripts, finding the results accurate, and proposed to present them for adoption at the next meeting.
Committee reports
No committees were active and no reports were received.
Election of new members
There were no proposals for new members.
Removal of old members
Riley raised the possibility of dropping members who have missed two consecutive meetings. Given the long gap since the previous meeting, it was agreed to defer any removals until next year.
Election of the Board
Karen stood for re-election and offered to continue as president, though she would welcome someone else taking the role. lojbab offered to serve primarily as a backup, citing age and health. The following slate was proposed:
- Abbat, Pierre
- LeChevalier, Robert
- Lynch, Riley
- Stein, Karen
With no objections, the slate was elected by acclamation.
Unfinished business
Riley noted that the 2022 minutes recorded a vote to separate the website into official and community content, which had never been fully carried out.
New business
lojbab observed that the various community groups had not reported on their activities, and suggested inviting them to report on what he and others are doing for inclusion in the minutes. he proposed that lojban.org serve as the official LLG site and link to community sites, and Karen noted that the front page already serves partly as a directory. It was agreed that tracking down active community members and putting their activities on the website would be new business, and Karen offered to review the front page of the website.
lojbab raised the long-term future of LLG, noting that he and Nora are in their mid-seventies and that LLG's archives are kept at their home with no backup location or transition plan. Karen offered to take custody of the archives and serve as LLG's address, with her adult child Ari willing to act as interim designated person if needed. lojbab suggested the Secretary be consulted, building on a preliminary inventory and index of the archives already begun.
Pierre asked whether an officer must live in Virginia; lojbab clarified that LLG must keep a Virginia address and a person there to receive correspondence, and that moving LLG to another state would be difficult given its 501(c)(3) status. Riley suggested a paid registered-agent service as an alternative or backup. It was agreed to form a continuation committee to report at the next meeting, with its formation delegated to the Board.
lojbab raised the 40th anniversary of the first Lojban work, which falls in 2027 or 2028 depending on the date chosen. Riley proposed an in-person gathering, the first LLG-sponsored gathering in more than ten years, recalling the 25th anniversary celebration organized by Ali Sajid Imami. Karen noted that LLG has funds for such an event, and Riley noted that the 2015 gathering had cost well under $2,000. It was agreed to form an anniversary committee, which need not consist of board members but should have a designated person overseeing funds and reporting, with its formation delegated to the Board.
Karen found the single-session video format more effective than the earlier practice of conducting the meeting over several months, and suggested that the format of future meetings be decided as new business.
Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 4:24 PM on December 28, 2025. The Board of Directors convened immediately afterward to elect officers.
