From Lojban

First, for those who have never heard of Lojban, it would, I think, be valuable, to point out the advantages of learning Lojban in the first place. Until it becomes a compulsory course (which is kind of a race, since once mind synchronization becomes available, the need for languages may or may not disappear, but that's another discussion), everyone will be asking: "Learning a language is hard! Why should I spend so much time on this if nobody speaks it?"

Next, Lojban seems a very strange language to those who are just starting out. I still have many lingering doubts about how Lojban will deal with more complicated concepts (especially, I am wondering if the 1400+ rootwords will be enough to cover all the scientific terms without needlessly bloating each word with an attached explanation.).

However, I promised myself that I would give it a go until I can rule out myself if the language has central deficits or not.

Alleviating these fears a bit and explaining that while it's very different and has fewer words, it can actually describe more, I think would we worthwhile (for an introduction at least).

Then, I would also consider renaming the chapter a bit. Many concepts mentioned do not, technically, fall under "grammar" (such as pronunciation).

(This is just nitpicking, I know. But not very hard to correct).

Also, I maybe wouldn't call it "newbies". I'm a computational scientist myself, so I understand where the term comes from, but it is not something that has really passed into the language. I never hear somebody calling somebody else on the street a "newbie" (the "for dummies" actually uses a more recognized word).

Other than that, it seems well structured, if a bit short at some points. Remember that concepts which probably seem natural and easy to you have never been seen before by your readers.

This is a problem I noticed with wave lessons continued: Some of the things mentioned (not many, thankfully), require quite a bit of thinking and research in figuring out, because the authors assumed the readers would just understand it right away.

I hope this somehow helps. I realize it's not much, but since I am also pretty new to Lojban, I can't contribute much more.
