The lojban (email) mailing list was started in 1989 by Eric S. Raymond. By 1991, it had outgrown its initial host and was moved to a Columbia University LISTSERV. In 1994, it surpassed 100 subscribers. In 2002, additional specialized lists were created: jboske ("lojbanology") for technical discussion of the language, and lojban-beginners for learners.
