I would add "dilettante in music and translation theory", but that would display my own prejudices. Nonetheless, Hofstadter is a Geek Favourite, and many of his preoccupations are held in common with a broad cross-section of Lojbanists. -- nitcion.
I find that to the serious John Cowan scholar, a familiarity with the works of Hofstadter is indispensable. I include them all on the reading list for the module I teach, CU3060 Introduction to J. W. Cowan: his works and thoughts. (*LOL* -- nitcion .e la djan)
